This house belonged to me because it belonged to my father. It can belong to you too.
This film has been a passion project for King for years now, finding time on off-hours to bring to life a powerful story from his and his family’s past.
Now that the film is nearing its most pivotal production stretch, the business of movie making is beginning to collide with the passionate expression this film represents.
Engaging a production house for support could be incredibly helpful, but the cost would be ceding a degree of creative control that could turn this film from a raw and personal expression of a major life event into a more universal and controlled piece of fiction.
This is why, instead of courting traditional studios for assistance, we’d like to see the film to completion on our own terms, so that when we engage with a larger entity it is with a fully realized piece.
This is why we need your help.
Right now, everyone involved in this project is working from passion alone, but now that the time for touring the film is coming closer, we need to consider what it will take to not just get it finished, but seen.
Any donation you can make to our project allows us to not just complete the film, but to enter it into festivals and ultimately push for wider distribution.
Our film is one that represents a time and place we rarely see in movies and with the support of people like you we can make sure it is an authentic and honest representation that is shared with as many people as possible.
Help us bring this story to life and help King celebrate the legacy of his grandmother, mother and brothers through this animated picture.
